Ellen Bedington

Ellen has always made dolls and miniatures, fitting them in where possible into her busy nursing career. Having worked in the USA, India and England and with many ethnic students her dolls show this international background. On retiring from teaching nursing she went into full-time teaching of dollmaking, beginning in the late 60's with a few classes in her home, to teaching seven classes for adult education in 1981. (She must be one of the oldest doll teachers!) An early member  of the BDA, she works in most media but prefers porcelain and Super Sculpey. Although dolls are taken from original moulds they are all painted, wigged and dressed differently. She will make and finish dolls completely, but prefers to sell kits to doll makers enabling them to put there own artistry to work on the doll of their choice.

She is the author of "Make and clothe your own Doll's House Dolls" (now out of print but available from libraries).

Dolls range in size from 102cm (40in) to a 4cm (1.5in) doll's house baby.
