Cherry Meddings

"Merry Makers"

Cherry came to dollmaking through her love of historical costume and her work in theatre costume. She has been making dolls since the seventies and concentrates on 39in and 24in - 26in felt dolls, one-of-a-kind with moulded faces. Her small dolls are usually fairytale or legendary characters, and her large dolls, Jesters (a ruling passion), Gypsies, and Commedia del Arte characters, have given her business its name: "Merry Makers".

Cherry has twice won the UK Doll Magazine's fabric doll competition with her original dolls "Robyn and Jenny" and "The Pied Piper and the Children who Followed Him". Her most recent dolls are "Scheherazade and her Caliph".
