Angela & John Barker |

|
|
Angela and John discovered porcelain dollmaking in 1985; prior to this, Angela, who has artistic training, made cloth dolls for their four daughters. The original designs for the dolls are sketched by Angela while John does the sculpting and mould making. Fully jointed dolls' bodies are made from a composite material which John (who has an engineering background) developed. Angela paints the faces and uses her dress-making and tailoring skills (which come from years of practice and a tailoress mother) to dress the dolls in the elegant styles of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras which inspire her.
